Hello, I’m Leslie… I’m an artist and photographer, but not as a professional career, but as part of my life. It’s who I am… I’m always on the run, going through life, in search, I suppose, of a further purpose, of the reason for being, of the answers to the why of things, of happiness, of love, of peace…, and in this future, the common thread and my source of motivation is artistic creation. This desire was what led me to study painting and drawing at Margarita Checa’s workshop in Lima and later at the United World College of the Adriatic in Italy, and to delve a little deeper by starting History of Art at the Sorbonne in Paris and Plastic Arts at the Catholic University of Lima, Peru.

At a later period in London I pursued studies at City Lit, although what I remember most was the excitement of visiting the myriad of museum and gallery exhibits in this culturally vibrant city. Back in Lima, I continued with free courses on Contemporary Art at Corriente Alterna and at the Photography Center.

There, at the school where years ago I discovered the alchemy of the darkroom process, I learned the use of digital cameras and digital editing.

Nowadays, photography is the point I have reached in the current development of my exploration as an artist, fascinated by its magic and its versatility. Apprehending the light that surrounds us like a symphony of shapes and colors through the lens of a camera, discovering the perfect frame and capturing the moment that arises is a delicacy for the eye. The world is full of banquets. It’s just a matter of opening your eyes and getting hold of them…

In the end, each image becomes a trace of our brief passage through the world, which hopefully, who knows, will make someone else vibrate who is in the same tune.
